Discolored Water 6-16-17

Discolored Water

The District is experiencing water quality that may taste or smell different and may be cloudy and discolored. However, this water is potable, meets all state and local health standards, and is safe to drink. If residents experience discolored water, the sediment in the water should settle and be back to normal in a few hours in some cases it could take 24 to 72 hours to fully settle out.
If you experience discolored water, the District is asking the residents to discontinue use of washing machines until the discolored water has cleared. Your water is still safe to consume even when discolored, the discoloring is a result of natural particulates that have become stirred up in the water main as a result of high velocity occurrences within the water system. If clothes were washed with discolored water, the District has some recommended commercial products that will remove the rust color from the garments (required to be re-washed) provided they have not been dried. Iron Out can be bought at Wal Mart , Bed Bath and Beyond and many other retailers.
